Although the Seychelles is the epitome of a dreamy, romantic holiday destination, it is also a great place to holiday even if it is with the whole family. Not many people are aware of the wanders that the Seychelles has to offer, there are several beautiful little markets, museums, island tours and so much more for you to enjoy which is why we have decided to highlight a few of our favourites for you!
Let’s take a look shall we…
Curieuse Island, one of the inner islands in the group of the Seychelle’s Islands – the second largest – is a bio-reserve that is managed by the Marine Parks Authority of the Seychelles Centre of Marine Technology and makes a wonderful location for a day-time trip.
The National Marine Park on the island is open every day (including public holidays) and makes for a fun-filled yet educational little trip that is perfect for families.
Alongside this, there are a number of things to see and do on Curieuse Island including:
- - Coco de Mer: Palm trees that produce the Coco de Mer nuts.
- - Mangrove Forests
- - Aldabra Tortoises
- - Takamaka Trees: Trees that are most known for their decorative leaves, fragrant flowers and spreading crown.
- - The Seychelle’s Black Parrot and so much more!
Apart from the above, there are several walking trails that will take you on an adventure through dense Mangrove Forest, past giant granite cliffs, the ruins of the Ancient Leper Colony, degraded land from fires and the 2004 Tsunami, viewpoints and obviously, some of the most picturesque tropical beaches that the Seychelle’s are home to. These walks are offered twice a day and are generally about 2Km’s in length allowing you to enjoy the sights and scenery without the concerns of getting tired or bored!

Victoria Market, a small but bustling and Colourful market where you can find stalls full of fresh fruits and vegetables; souvenirs, local herbs and spices, and some beautiful pareos – or as we would call them, sarongs – as well as t-shirts.
It is said that the best time to visit the market is in the early morning on a Saturday or any day but best early in the morning – the market is said to be at its liveliest on Saturday’s - when the fishermen/fishmongers have a fresh variety of seafood on display that includes parrotfish as well as barracuda and so much more.
The perfect way to enjoy a full cultural experience and give the local flavors a go!

Tempio Hindu, a small yet impressive place of worship that was built in 1992 for the Hindu community from Tamil Nadu and Gujarat.
The Tempio Hindu is a carved and brightly Coloured/painted gopuram that features extravagantly decorated interiors with some magnificently elaborate sculptures.
During their annual Kavadi festival, a procession adorned with an immense number of flowers, you can witness devotees anointing the statue of Lord Muruga with milk, sounds intriguingly incredible doesn’t it?
If you’re interested in the vast cultures, heritages and history spread across the Seychelles then this is certainly a wonderfully colorful experience for you to enjoy.

Free from any sort of dwelling, Coco Islands will allow you to experience the complete and utter bliss of being alone on an island – as you would do just as Tom Hanks did in Castaway.
Rich in bio-diversity the island is the perfect spot to grab those flippers and dive into the depths unknown and enjoy your very own giant, natural aquarium.
